I’m excited to share this Cheesy Tomato Alfredo Pasta Bake — a comforting, family-friendly casserole that pairs creamy Alfredo with classic spaghetti sauce for a rich, cheesy meal. It’s the kind of dish that’s easy enough for weeknights but satisfying enough for a cozy weekend supper.

At the start of a new year many of us think about priorities and resolutions. One goal I always return to is making more time to cook and eat together as a family. Between school, sports, and activities, busy evenings can pull everyone in different directions. That’s why recipes that come together quickly, use familiar ingredients, and encourage everyone to gather around the table are so valuable.

This pasta bake is semi-homemade in the best way: it uses jarred sauces to save time, but it still feels homemade and comforting. The combination of jarred alfredo and spaghetti sauce creates a nice balance of creamy and tangy flavors, while a mix of mozzarella and sharp cheddar gives it a great cheese pull. Breadcrumbs add a crunchy topping that contrasts with the melty interior.

I love recipes like this because they make it easier to plan intentional family meals. You don’t have to spend all afternoon in the kitchen, and yet you end up with a satisfying, warming dinner that invites conversation and connection. If you’re aiming to eat together more often, keep simple, flexible recipes on hand — and this pasta bake is one of my favorites.

For busy nights, this dish is practical: you can brown the meat, cook the pasta, mix the sauces, and assemble the layers in a single baking dish. It reheats well, so leftovers make a great next-day lunch or quick reheat dinner. If you try it, I hope it becomes a go-to on your rotation when you need something both easy and comforting.

Here’s to more intentional meals and more time gathered around the table. If you have tips for simplifying weeknight dinners or favorite family casseroles, I’d love to hear them. Happy New Year — let’s make mealtime count!

I really love how the creamy Alfredo sauce and jarred spaghetti sauce taste together in this dish. It’s rich, comforting, and delightfully cheesy — perfect for family dinners and easy entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 pounds ground beef
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Tuscan seasoning blend (such as McCormick)
  • 1 pound tube-shaped pasta (I used mezzi rigatoni)
  • 15 ounce jar Alfredo sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 24 ounce jar spaghetti sauce
  • 16 ounces low-moisture mozzarella, shredded
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-seasoned panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a large baking dish (about 10 x 13.75 inches oval works well) with nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef and season with salt, pepper, and Tuscan seasoning. When cooked through, drain any excess fat.
  3. While the beef browns, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta just shy of al dente — it will finish cooking in the oven. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk the Alfredo sauce and egg together until smooth.
  5. Spoon a small amount of the spaghetti sauce into the bottom of the prepared dish, just enough to lightly cover. Layer half of the pasta in the dish, followed by half of the cooked beef. Spread half of the Alfredo mixture and half of the spaghetti sauce over the beef. Sprinkle half of both cheeses (mozzarella and cheddar) over the sauce. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, beef, Alfredo mixture, spaghetti sauce, and cheeses.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the panko bread crumbs with the melted butter and stir to coat. Evenly sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top layer of cheese.
  7. Bake uncovered for about 30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the cheese is melted. Let rest a few minutes before serving.
