Hello everyone — we have some important news about My Cake School!
First, thank you. Whether you’ve been with us for a decade or you just stop by now and then for a recipe or tutorial, your support has made this community possible for the past 12 years. Seeing our earliest videos reminds me how far we’ve come, and I’m so grateful you’ve been part of the journey.

What’s the Big News?
We’re expanding our Free Tutorials and retiring the paid membership portion of the site. In short: our cake decorating videos will soon be available to everyone at no cost. This change makes our step-by-step cake tutorials and decorating lessons easier to access for bakers of all skill levels — from beginners to experienced decorators who are looking for inspiration or a refresher.
Why is this Happening?
We’re still making lots of cakes, but we’re shifting more of our energy toward developing and sharing cake recipes. Over the last few years, our recipe collection has become one of the most popular parts of the site. By focusing on recipes while keeping video tutorials free, we can share more tested recipes, helpful tips, and clear tutorial videos with a wider audience.
When will this change take effect?
This new format goes into effect on August 4th. After that date, logins will no longer be required to watch our cake video tutorials. All of our cake recipes will remain available and easy to find — so you’ll have access to both tutorials and recipes without a paid membership.
What about our Current Members?
We truly appreciate everyone who has supported the site by joining or renewing a membership. Many of you renewed this year expecting a steady stream of new decorating videos. Because we’re changing our focus, it wouldn’t be fair to continue charging for a membership that no longer provides the same new decorating content. We understand this is an inconvenience and want to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Refunds
If you joined, renewed, or purchased a gift membership between June 1, 2022 and August 4, 2022, we will issue a full refund of the $30 membership fee for this year. You do not need to contact us — we will review recent payments and process those refunds automatically.
If your membership began before June 1, 2022 and you would like a pro-rated refund for the remainder of your current year, please email [email protected] with “Refund” in the subject line. We aim to respond within 1–2 business days, and refunds should process within about a week once approved.
What Parts of the Site will Disappear?
We will retire the Forums section. However, you can still ask questions and join conversations by commenting beneath our video tutorials and recipe posts. If you’re on Facebook, consider joining our My Cake School FB Group for community discussions and shared photos — it’s a great place to connect with other bakers. You can also contact us directly at [email protected].
All membership-related features such as login, profile pages, and member-only navigation will be removed as we transition to the new free-access format.
How do I access all of my content?
After August 4th, every cake video on the site will be free to view without logging in. Recipe pages will remain published and searchable so you can find ingredients, measurements, and step-by-step instructions easily. Instead of Forums, use the comments under each video and recipe to ask questions, share photos of your cakes, or offer tips to other bakers.
